CEPAD - Nicaragua

SCEC and CEPAD renewed their partnership recently. A DOC & UCC work team visited with CEPAD and folks in Maleconcito. The Kilambe Association was the group that guided our education and suggested the needed work projects. Sharing the circumstances of our lives, the hardships/hopes and the ways we might be mutually supportive were among the many treasured experiences and memories.

A bit of history is in order. From the SCEC Board Minutes of Sept. 27, 2001 we find these words: Ms. Emily Abbott and Rev. Don Smith brought GilbertoAguirre of CEPAD Nicaragua Council of Churches to meet with SCEC. It was related that during the 2000 Week of Prayer, a special offering of $3,000 was donated for victims of Mitch hurrican. Motion passed to have SCEC form a partnership with CEPAD.
